A while back, I travelled to Ohio to testify in my friend’s CSPO case against a man that had stalked both of us for years.
You’ll be happy to know my friend was successful and was granted his CSPO against our stalker. Unfortunately, as is often the case, the CSPO only escalated things.
Leading up to the hearing, myself, Peter John Ross, who petitioned for the CSPO, and ten other victims of Berdyck’s unhinged aggression were bombarded by racial slurs. In the same breath where he would insult me for wearing a keffiyeh, or call a Black man by a slur, he would threaten to run campaigns that would send BLM after us, and accusing us of being racists because we were against him, a white man. His ranting may not have been logical, but it was threatening. I dealt with several comments threatening to “out” me about something to do with horse dildos. Nothing to do with horses or dildos came out in court, but that didn’t stop him from spamming facebook with comments about me, horse dildos, and racial commentary about my skin tone and my headscarf.
Since the CSPO has been granted, he continues to violate it, putting up video after video meant to taunt my friend, reaching out to him and attempting to contact him. He posts more and more ridiculous and outright lies about not only Peter, but anyone he sees interacting with Peter. At the moment, he’s pushing the narrative that Peter is incessantly calling his son and his wife. It’s baseless. Peter could not have been. But it doesn’t matter — he knows it isn’t true, he doesn’t care that it is a lie, his goal is to terrify and intimidate Peter into believing that his audience believes him.
Berdyck recently put out a video claiming to know my real name. According to him, I’m a left wing extremist who is really named Aila McCubbin. I have no idea where he got that idea. I stated my name under oath in court, so he’s fully aware of what my name is. I’m not an extremist of any sort, though I imagine it suits his racist ideologies to paint the Brown Arab as an extremist. He repeatedly insisted that I threw jugs of urine at neo nazis while being part of some anti fascist street gang, only pretending to be a boring stay at home mom. He claimed to have an entire file folder of information on me and my past proving this. He insisted my ex husband was learning to build bombs to aid in our extreme anti racist ideologies, and that I repeatedly victimized nazis for my own enjoyment. He insisted I was part of some international cyber gang stalking syndicate called Nordic Cave Resistance that apparently hunted nazis and triggered them into mass shootings, and I was allegedly behind every mass shooting by a right wing extremist in the United States in recent history. He ends the video cackling that Peter John Ross has successfully convinced me to turn on my anti government ideals and support his racist and pro police documentary (which is racist and pro police because it draws attention to Matthew Berdyck’s bad behavior)
Sound far fetched and delusional? Because it is. That, or, it’s carefully crafted to terrify me into thinking law enforcement might believe him and put me on some sort of list. His goal is to terrorize and bring fear into people’s lives.
I don’t know why he is still walking around. If you watch Peter’s documentary, it becomes clear that he’s been investigated by the FBI for making terroristic threats, but that the infrastructure for handling cybercrimes isn’t really there, so nothing ever happens.
I know most of those of us that have been targeted by him hold anger and fear toward him. Those are emotions I’m trying to not let rule me. I want to say that I hope he gets the help he needs, and that I hope he finds peace, but if I’m being honest with myself, I’m not sure he isn’t beyond help at this point. Every act of kindness thrown his way has been manipulated and twisted and corrupted in his vision until he’s seen as a victim of some sort of exploitation. It’s hard to tell what is true and what is a lie because lies so damn much. How can anyone safely help someone like that? How can you help someone this dangerous? What possible community accountability or rehabilitation could be done in this case?
I think it’s exceptionally clear why he has been rejected by family and friends and the system alike. There may be no help to give for someone like this.
